Goldsand

We're building products that don't compromise on principle or profit.

Our Story

1963

In a small town known as Mit Ghimr, a radical experiment in savings began. The Mit Ghimr Savings Bank as it came to be known provided interest-free savings to customers while using the funds to directly invest in the local economy and real business. It was incredibly profitable and expanded quickly from 1 branch to nearly 400.

2023

Goldsand begins with the same mission: finance built on trust, shared upside, and real value creation should far outperform the system we have today in both raw returns and equitable distribution.

For Tariq, Ammar, and Dr. Fouda, this mission was personal. While building companies with the best and brightest in Silicon Valley and New York, they also saw firsthand in Pakistan, Egypt and various countries in the Muslim world how interest-free finance lacked competitive tools to earn returns while staying true to the people.

Recent financial innovations have made it possible to build entire new financial systems from the ground up and move money across the globe in seconds. Across roughly eighteen months, the trio Tariq, Ammar and Dr. Fouda shipped multiple financial products and published a body of original Shariah research under the guidance of qualified scholars. Those products together handled more than $20M in digital assets.

The products were highly popular but were available only to sophisticated investors. Soon, these investors were asking how they could give their friends and family access.

2026

So earlier this year, the Goldsand team repackaged everything they learned into a clean consumer savings app that lets everyday Muslims earn up to 7% on their cash with no interest, full liquidity, and instant withdrawals: Goldsand.

The Future

Goldsand today starts defined and focused: a savings app, but its vision is much larger: the global wealth layer for Muslims to earn ethical returns while investing in the Muslim economy.

Silicon Valley meets financial expertise and traditional scholarship.

Tariq Patanam

Tariq trained under leading AI researchers at Stanford University, shipped core product features at Google and YouTube that drove billions of hours of engagement, and later developed digital financial products that managed millions in assets. In parallel, he has studied Islamic finance in Egypt, Mauritania, and Algeria with scholars including students of Murabit al-Hajj, senior muftis at Al-Azhar, and the chief qadi of southern Algeria.

Ammar Khan

Ammar has been writing code since he was 9. He was previously co-founder and CTO of Medsender, where he built the HIPAA-compliant infrastructure that secures over 100M+ sensitive data points today. The company has gone on to raise over $8M in capital and scaled to tens of millions of cumulative revenue. He later architected smart-contracts for blockchain-based financial products that served over $100M in digital assets. He attended Columbia University.

Dr. Mohamed Fouda

Dr. Mohamed Fouda holds a PhD in quantum computing from Northwestern and brings extensive blockchain and investment experience to Goldsand. He has served as Head of Research & Fund Partner at Volt Capital and later Alliance, helping direct millions in both liquid capital and venture capital. In both roles, he guided companies that went on to be valued in the billions in their early stages of financial and blockchain design.
